COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball program scored its most runs in a single game since April 18, 2019 in game one at Allen, winning 18-2 in six innings before sweeping the doubleheader with a 17-1 final in the nightcap that was called due to lightning in the bottom of the fifth.
Â
The Lions defeated Trinity Washington by a combined score of 49-0 on that beautiful 70 degree day in southeastern Pennsylvania, which was also the last time LU scored in the double-digits for a single inning.

Lincoln (PA) Top Performers:
Â
- Amaya Townsend (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) joins Cailyn Dove (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck Senior) by putting a dent in the home run department, depositing a missile over the chain link fence of MLK Park for her third career bomb, a two-run shot to score Chloe Foster (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin). For the day, Townsend went 4-for-8 (.500) with a pair of triples, four runs scored, and three RBIs.
Â
- Kevyn Jones (Baltimore, Md./Paul Laurence Dunbar) was a run producing machine for Coach Waddell, plating seven runs over 11 innings with only one of which going for extra bases (double) and two of those coming off of sacrifice flies.
Â
- Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) was the hits leader for the Orange and Blue, hitting .714 (5-of-7), legging out three triples, scoring eight times, walking thrice, swiping a trio of bases, and touching 12 total bases.
Â
- In the circle, Cate Liskey (Richland, Pa./Eastern Lebanon) and Townsend earned victories in game one and two, respectively, combining to allow just one run in 5.1 frames with the latter striking out a career-high four batters.
Â
- Foster and Sydney Davis (Harrisburg, Pa./Sci-Tech High School) both came on in relief, allowing a run apiece as Foster cashed in four strikeouts over 12 at-bats.
Â
- It was such a dominant and complete team effort, the bullet points would take up numerous paragraphs, so here is a summary of the performance as a unit:
Â
- Five Lions had at least one multi-hit game and seven racked up multiple RBIs in one of the two ballgames
Â
- Eight different student-athletes logged at least one base knock.
Â
- Ten ladies reached base safely one or more times.
Â
- Overall, Lincoln drew 15 walks, had ten extra-base hits, and stole five bags.
Â
Notes:
Â
- The three matchups versus the Yellow Jackets are the first three contests between the programs as far back as the data on the website goes, which is 2008.
Â
- The Orange and Blue's defense had a perfect fielding percentage for the third time this season in the opener compared to a touchdown's worth of miscues for Allen (7).
Â
Next:
