Williams Carries Lincoln To Victory With 21 Points & 5 Assists


LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's basketball program saw its senior leader shoulder the load on offense and will his team to a win in his final home game as the Lions beat the Vikings, 70-66.

  • Senior Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) saved his best performance for his last in front of the Lion faithful inside Rivero Gym, shooting 50% (6-of-12) with a trio of treys, dropping a game-high 21 points, handing out a season-best five assists, grabbing three boards, and swiping a steal.
 
  • The other senior recognized prior to the game, Amir Stevens (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream Central), earned his second career start, playing 11 minutes with a bucket and a free throw.
 
  • Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) led all players with a half-dozen dimes while Freddie Young, Jr. (Ewing, N.J./Trenton Catholic) collected four to go along with a contest-best two blocks.
 
  • Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) and Peter Sorber (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) both hit the double-figure mark in the scoring department, putting together ten points apiece, while Janaie Coates-Sinues (Newark, N.J./University) was the team's top rebounder at five.
 
Notes:
 
  • LU of PA tied a season-high with 17 assists versus ECSU, also doing so against West Chester, Kutztown, and Shaw.
 
  • The Orange and Blue surrendered just three steals to Elizabeth City State, its fewest allowed in 2022-23 tied with the first game opposite the Vikings plus Kutztown and Cheyney.

  • Lincoln concludes the regular season at Bowie State on Saturday with the possibility of earning as high as a four seed in the CIAA Tournament on the line.
