ERIE, PA (November 24, 2023)- The Lincoln University Lions men's basketball team took down the Panthers of Davenport University for day 1 of the Gary Miller Classic, hosted by Gannon University. The 77-68 win moves the Lions on to face Gannon University for day 2 of the classic.

FIRST HALF
- As both teams entered the matchup with a 2-3 overall record, the contest was sure to be intense.
- Right from the tip-off, the Lions and the Panthers battled to display their offensive dominance.
- Despite Davenport taking an early lead, Lincoln stayed within lead changing range.
- After tying the score 3 times, LU took the lead and didn't look back.
- The Lions went on a 9-0 run and extended their lead by as much as 11 points.
- As the halftime buzzer sounded, Lincoln held a commanding 31-26 lead over Davenport.
- Lincoln managed to control the half off of second chance points (5-0) and points off of the Panthers turnovers (9-5).
SECOND HALF
- As the 2nd half commenced, the Lions worked to stay in control.
- The Panthers showed signs of battling back, attempting to narrow the gap, as the score tied 6 times in the half.
- LU remained composed, responding with a balanced offensive attack and defensive plays.
- Working collectively, the Lions spread the scoring wealth throughout their roster.
- As the game clock ran down, it was evident that the Lions were the stronger of the 2 evenly matched teams.
- At the final buzzer, LU celebrated their well-earned 77-68 victory over the Davenport Panthers.
LION LEADERS
- Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) led the Lions in scoring with 17 points.
- Also scoring in double digits were Aidan Anderson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) (16 points), Freddie Young, Jr. (Ewing, N.J./Trenton Catholic) (15 points) and Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) (12 points).
- Cleveland controlled Lincoln's boards with 6 rebounds, while Young led the team with 5 assists in addition to snagging 5 steals.

The Lions will take on the Gary Miller Classic host, the Golden Knights of Gannon University for day 2 of the event. The Saturday, November 25 tip-off is set for 7:30pm at the Highmark Events Center.
