Men’s Basketball Takes Down Rollins, 80-73

WINTER PARK, FL (November 15, 2023)- The Lincoln University men's basketball team took down the Tars of Rollins College in an 80-73 road victory. The win is a great start for the Lions as they begin their series with the Florida team.

GAME INFORMATION
Score: Lincoln 80, Rollins 73
Records: Lincoln (2-1, 0-0), Rollins (0-2, 0-0)
Location: Winter Park, FL (Warden Arena)
Series: Lincoln controls the series, 1-0, against Rollins

FIRST HALF
  • From the opening tip-off, the Lions did not waste any time showcasing their offensive firepower with a layup by Aidan Anderson (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) and a jumper by Freddie Young, Jr. (Ewing, N.J./Trenton Catholic) to start the contest.
  • Despite the Tars staying within lead change range, LU stayed consistent and had effective defense to hold their lead.
  • As clock ran down, a combination of layups and jumpers gave the Lions the needed edge going into halftime.
  • At the end of the 1st half, Lincoln held a firm 37-31 lead over Rollins.

SECOND HALF
  • As the second half commenced, Lincoln came out ready to secure the win.
  • In addition to a half filled with Lion layups, Rollins went on a fouling frenzy, sending Lincoln to the line to secure more buckets.
  • LU maxed out with as much as a 14-point lead over the Tars, further dominating the court.
  • At the end of regulation, Lincoln grasped a well-deserved 80-73 victory.  

LION LEADERS
  • Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) led the Lions in scoring with 21 points.
  • Also scoring in double digits were Manny Toha (Newark, N.J./Marist) (13 points) and Peter Sorber (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) (11 points).
  • Janaie Coates-Sinues (Newark, N.J./University) jumped up, grasping 6 rebounds.
  • Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) controlled Lincoln's assists, securing 8, in addition to 3 steals.

UP NEXT
The Lions will stay in the south and travel to Lakeland, FL to face the Mocs of Florida Southern College on Saturday, November 18. Tip-off is set for 4pm at George W. Jenkins Field House.
