Fields’ 26 Points, Near Double-Double Help Lions Stave Off Shock’s Upset Bid


TAKOMA PARK, Md. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's basketball program escaped The Pitt and avoided the upset from an upstart Washington Adventist team, riding their leader Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) to a seven-point victory, 76-69.

Lincoln (PA) Top Performers:
 
  • Fields, the team's top scorer and rebounder coming into the game, provided most of the production as she scored a game-high 26 points while corralling a team-best nine rebounds, cashing in on a perfect 8-for-8 from the line, and swatting away one of the squad's two blocks.
 
  • Isis Triplett (Orlando, Fl./West Oaks Academy) spent a campaign-most 30 minutes on the floor, tying her season-best of four free throws made and posted 14 points.
 
  • Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) recorded a game-high four assists and three steals to go along with ten points.
 
  • Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) also contributed the same number of points as Montgomery, tying her with a contest-best trio of steals on top of a pair of the club's four three-pointers.
 
Notes:
 
  • LU of PA frequented the charity stripe all evening long, going 26-of-37 (70.3%) for its most attempts and makes of the campaign.
