Women’s Basketball Sweeps CIAA Weekly Accolades

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's basketball program saw three of its own shine brighter than the rest as Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep), Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch), and Kayiona Willis (Detroit, Mich./Southfield Arts & Tech) were voted as the CIAA's Player, Defensive Player, and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Montgomery, a sophomore guard from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, set season-bests in every statistical category except for blocks, including career-highs for minutes (38), points (18), rebounds (7), assists (7), free throws made (6), and steals (4). In the win over Claflin, she led all game participants with seven assists while leading the Lions in points, steals, and assists on top of making 6-of-8 shots (75%) versus Bowie State. For the week, she averaged 17 points, 5.5 boards, five assists, two steals, and 1.5 three-pointers to go along with a 43.5% field-goal percentage.

Fields, a sophomore guard/forward from Long Branch, New Jersey, logged a season-high four assists opposite the Panthers and led LU in rebounds during both matchups. She racked up 18 points, eight rebounds, 2.5 assists and a pair of steals per game plus one of the club's three rejections.

Willis, a redshirt freshman guard from Detroit, Michigan, and Youngstown State transfer, made her breakout performance in the convincing 21-point blowout of the Lady Bulldogs, putting 14 points on the scoreboard with a 5-for-8 (62.5%) shooting display.

The trio of Montgomery, Fields, and Willis along with the rest of the Lions return to the hardwood for its first road tilt in nearly a full month when it battles Virginia Union inside Barco-Stevens Hall on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. in search of its seventh straight triumph.
