Waddell tapped to lead softball program

Lincoln University Director of Athletics and Recreational Services Harry Stinson III has announced the hiring of Zadaisha Waddell as the new head softball coach.

Waddell comes to Lincoln after serving as the assistant coach at Grambling State University. She replaces Renee Clarke, who resigned following the 2022 season.

"I'm excited to have Coach Waddell join Lincoln to take over our Softball Program," said Stinson. "Her background, leadership, playing ability, and devotion to the sport of softball elevated her to be our top choice. Our program got better today with her hiring and I'm looking forward to her continuing to lay the foundation for a championship-caliber culture at Lincoln."

She specialized in the fundamentals and mechanics of a pitching staff that improved their earned run average by more than a run in 2022. The Tigers improved by 11 wins from the 2021 season. Waddell also served as the third base coach at GSU.

Waddell oversaw student-athlete retention, along with aiding in the development of hitting drills and mechanics.

Before her stint at Grambling State, she was a graduate assistant coach at her alma mater, North Carolina A&T.

As a player, she was a four-time All-MEAC selection, including earning first-team honors as a utility player as a senior.

Lincoln begins the season on February 14 with a non-conference doubleheader at Goldey-Beacom University.
