Lincoln drops twin bill to Rams

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Lincoln University baseball team lost a pair of non-conference games Saturday to Jefferson.

GAME ONE: JEFFERSON 7, LINCOLN 5
Sophomore Damaal Sands (Nassau, Bahamas/Montverde Academy (FL)) drove in four runs, but the Lions left 12 runners on base in dropping the opening game of the twin bill. Lincoln went 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Lincoln took the early lead with a Sands RBI single in the second inning, but Jefferson responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Sophomore Alex Jones (Bear Del./Appoquinimink) literally stole a run in the fourth after starting the inning with a double. He stole third with two outs and scampered home on a throwing error. Sands drove his second run of the game with a fielder's choice in the third inning.
Jefferson reclaimed the lead with back-to-back one-out hits in the fifth inning and added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning.

Two-out wildness, three consecutive walks, in the seventh inning allowed the Lions to put some pressure on Jefferson. Sands pulled Lincoln to within a pair of runs with a two-RBI single. But, Lincoln couldn't get another big hit in falling 7-5.

GAME TWO: JEFFERSON 13, LINCOLN 3
Jefferson took advantage of some Lincoln wildness to score 11 runs over the first three innings in securing the 13-3 win.

The Rams scored three runs without a hit in the first inning, added six in the second, and two more in the third.

Freshman Miguel Agramonte (Fallston, Md./Fallston) got the Lions on the board with his first career home run, a solo shot, in the fourth inning. He was responsible for Lincoln's second run as he reached on a two-out single, stole second, and came around to score on back-to-back wild pitches.

The seventh inning started with a pair of walks and a hit batter, and an RBI groundout by senior DeAndre Bowens (Rock Hill, N.Y./Monticello) brought home Sands for the final run of the game.

Agramonte had his first multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a home run.

Sophomore Luis Miguel Reinoso (Beltsville, Md./High Point), 0-4, took the loss, allowing three earned runs with three walks, three wild pitches, and two hit batters.
