Gray named CIAA DB of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the third time this season, a Lincoln University defensive back has been honored by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the league announced today (November 7, 2022).

For the second time, Senior Kai Gray was named Coca-Cola CIAA Defensive Back of the Week. He is a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, which will be announced later this week.

"Kai Gray has consistently been a tackling machine and a force on the defensive side of the ball," said Lincoln University Head Football Coach Josh Dean. "He eliminates the potential for big plays and is a sure tackler."

In the loss to Bowie State Saturday, Gray finished with 15 tackles, eight of which were solos, with a forced fumble. He finished with 82 tackles over eight games with four tackles for loss and seven passes defended. His 10.3 tackles per game lead the CIAA and is 10th nationally.

Lincoln finished the season 2-6 overall.
