CHARLOTTE, NC – Two Lincoln University football players were honored by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association for their play against Virginia State, the league announced today (October 31, 2022).
For the fourth time this season, freshman quarterback Isaiah Freeman earned Food Lion CIAA Rookie of the Week honors. Additionally, redshirt freshman Jahad Green was named Food Lion CIAA Defensive Back of the Week.
"Every week Isaiah Freeman shows up with the belief and the mindset to win," said Lincoln University Head Football Coach
Josh Dean. "A natural born leader with the ability to back it up; not only is he a future Offensive Player of the Year, but with his work ethic, a future All American and will lead this program to success."
Freeman accounted for three touchdowns against the Trojan, becoming the first LU player with multiple rushing touchdowns in a game this season. He threw for 204 yards and a score with a season-high 72 yards rushing and a pair of scores.
Green had 14 tackles, five of which were solos, a tackle for loss, and a pair of pass breakups.
"Jahad Green is a talented athlete that works extremely hard," said Dean. "He has a great feel for the game. Jahad is the ultimate competitor that has an impact in the passing and run game."
Lincoln wraps up the 2022 season by traveling to Bowie State 1 p.m. Saturday.
