BOWIE, MD – The Lincoln University volleyball team dropped a straight-set match, 25-18, 25-18, 25-23, to Bowie State Monday at AC Jordan Arena in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lincoln had its best hitting performance in the third set, attacking .226 with 11 kills on 31 attempts and just four errors. The Lions hit .000 in the first set and -.043 in the second.
- The Lions held a late five-point lead in the third set, but Bowie State immediately responded following a timeout with 10 of the final 13 points to secure the set and the match.
- Sophomore Haley Loper (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Technical) led the team with nine kills on 21 attempts and four errors (.238), while junior Erica Taylor (Romulus, MI/Romulus Summit Academy) added six kills on 20 attempts (.000).
- Sophomore Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown) distributed 14 assists and freshman Janaa Smith (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) added nine assist.
- Sophomore Mariah Webster (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech/) tabulated a team-high 11 digs.
