The Lincoln University volleyball team fell to Elizabeth City State Thursday in straight sets, 25-23, 25-12, 25-13, in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action inside Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lincoln recorded six kills in each of the three sets. The Lions had six errors in each of the first two sets and eight errors in the third.
- Freshman Laila Newborn (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) led the defensive effort with four block assists and three digs. She added three kills on seven attempts with just one error (.286 hitting percentage).
- Sophomore Haley Loper (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Technical) finished with a team-high six kills on 21 attempts and five errors (.048 hitting percentage), and added four digs and a block assist.
- Sophomore Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown) dished out seven assists and freshman Janaa Smith (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) finished with six assists.
