The Lincoln University volleyball team travels to Wilmington, Del. Tuesday for a non-conference tilt with Goldey-Beacom.
TEAMS: Lincoln is coming off a pair of straight-set losses, while GBC comes into the game 2-5. Both teams were beaten in straight-set by Shepherd. The Lightning has a straight-set victory over CIAA-rival Bowie State.
PLAYERS: Freshmen
Erica Taylor (Romulus, MI/Romulus Summit Academy) and
Haley Loper (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Technical) are leading the LU offense with eight and seven kills, respectively. Taylor has eight kills on 20 attempts, while Loper has seven kills on 31 attempts.
Junior middle blocker
Kaiya Lewis (Queens, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) has been a force at the net with six blocks. The setting pair of junior
Tatyana Charles (Easton, Pa./Eastern Area) and freshman
Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown) have combined for 23 assists.
For GBC, junior middle blocker Julia Syrdahl is averaging a little more than three kills per set with 80 total kills, while junior Shaylor Boyce has 66 kills. Junior setter Autumn Spendlove has 217 assists, 8.36 per set.
SERIES HISTORY: Lincoln has lost all seven meetings against Goldey-Beacom, losing 21 of the 22 sets. This is the first meeting since 2016.
