Lincoln announces 2021 football schedule

The Lincoln University athletic department announces the official release of the 2021 football schedule which features five home games.

"We believe the strength of our non-conference games will prepare us for a tough CIAA slate," said Lincoln University head coach Josh Dean. "As a program we are building a solid foundation for sustained future success, and our schedule will give us weekly metrics about how we are growing."

Lincoln opens the season with back-to-back non-conference home contests as Lock Haven visits on September 4 and Central State University comes to the LU Football Stadium on September 11. The Lions travel to FCS member Gardner Webb for their final non-conference contest of the year on September 18.

Shaw University will be the home opponent for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener on September 25, followed by another pair of road contests. The Lions travel to Fayetteville State University (October 2) and to Virginia Union (October 6).

The Homecoming contest will be against Elizabeth City State University on October 16.

Lincoln travels to Virginia State (October 23) before hosting rival Bowie State in the final home game of the season. The Lions cap the 2021 campaign with a road game at Chowan.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 season was canceled and the Lions went 0-10 in 2019. The 2021 season will be the third season for head coach Josh Dean.
