The Lincoln University women's basketball team never found an offensive rhythm Saturday and fell to regionally-ranked Shepherd, 65-47, in non-conference action at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
Â
The Lions tallied just four points in the first quarter and were fighting uphill for the entire night. While the LU offense was struggling, Shepherd was just the opposite.
Â
The Rams finished the first half, shooting 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the floor, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. With that, Lincoln trailed by 17 at the half. Â
Â
Senior
Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) keyed a Lincoln run with back-to-back three-pointers and then a three-point lead that pulled the Lions to within eight. But a questionable technical foul call stymied all the LU momentum and Shepherd recorded a four-point possession to reclaim its double-figure advantage.
Â
Lincoln briefly cut the deficit to nine points, but a 14-5 Shepherd run put the game away.
Â
Brown tallied a team-high 16 points with six rebounds, while senior
Kryshell Gordy (Chester, Pa./Ursuline Academy (Del.)) registered her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Â
Lincoln (2-2) has a quick turnaround as the Lions host Washington Adventist 6 p.m. Saturday.
