REGIONALLY RANKED
The Lincoln University women's basketball team was ranked ninth in the preseason D2SIDA Atlantic Regional poll. Indiana (PA) earned all first-place votes for 50 points, followed by Glenville State (41), Gannon (40), Bowie State (38), Virginia Union (26), Notre Dame (23), California (22), Charleston (14), Lincoln (12), and Fayetteville State (5).
BIG SPARK
Senior swiss army knife Joy Morton (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) is back after tallying 6.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. She is living up to her nickname "Big Spark" with the energy she brings while on the court.
She started the first three games of the season before coming off the bench in the last two. Morton is leading the team with 7.7 points on 6-of-13 shooting (46.2 percent) while pulling down 3.7 rebounds. In the exhibition game against Saint Joseph's Sunday, Morton tallied a career-high 18 points.
Morton has ventured to the free-throw line a team-high 11 times, converting nine (81.8 percent).
REBOUNDING MACHINE
Senior transfer Kryshell Gordy (Chester, Pa./Ursuline Academy (Del.)) is crashing the glass with profound proficiency this season. She has pulled down 34 rebounds (11.3 per game) this season. Her 34 boards are more than twice as many as any teammate. Gordy also leads the team with five blocks.
LINEUP CHANGES
Over the last four games, Lincoln has rolled out four different lineups. Only
Kryshell Gordy (Chester, Pa./Ursuline Academy (Del.)) has started all four games. Ten different players have started a game for the Lions this year.
Junior Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School ) became the 10 different player, and the third point guard, to start a game. The University of Hartford transfer played 37 minutes against Saint Joseph's.
CHARITY STRIPE
Lincoln is averaging 20 free-throw attempts per game this season. The Lions have made (39) more than their opponents have attempted (37). However, LU is only converting 65 percent (39-of-60) of their attempts.
