Lions Bedeviled by USciences

The Lincoln University women's volleyball was seeking their first win of the season on Thursday night when they faced University of the Sciences.  USciences however had other plans as they bedeviled the Lions both offensively and defensively and handed Lincoln a 3-0 loss.

The loss drops the Lions record to 0-4.  USciences improves to 3-5

Kaiya Lewis (Woodhaven, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) led the Lions with five kills with just one error in ten attack attempts (.400 attack%).  Jasmin Lewis (Baltimore/Western) and Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) had three kills apiece.  Russaw had eight assists setting the Lincoln offense.

On the defensive side, Russaw and Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) had eight digs apiece while Jade Bowers (Randallstown, Md./Milford Mill Academy) added four.

The Devils were led by Tori Wright's 13 kills.  Caelin Jaskot and Angeli Roman Medina recorded 15 and 14 assists respectively. Medina also led the team with three aces. Danielle Taylor had eight digs.

The Devils recorded 35 kills to the Lions 13 and had 13 aces to LU's three.   USciences also finished the match with three more digs (31-28) than the Lions.

The women's volleyball team returns to action on Thursday, September 26, 2019 when they begin Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) games with a match against Virginia Union University.   Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Manuel Rivero Hall.
