A short-handed Lincoln University women's soccer team took to the turf at Lions Stadium Wednesday evening to face area rival Chestnut Hill College, falling to the Griffins 6-0.
The Lions fall to 0-2 while Chestnut Hill improves to 1-1.
Lincoln dressed just 11 players for the contest and played well over the first 30 minutes of action, holding Chestnut Hill scoreless.  The Griffins scored three times in the final 15 minutes of the first half and added three more goals in the second half to account for all the scoring.
Senior goaltender
Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) recorded 12 saves to become the first Lions goalkeeper to notch 400 career saves.  Rodriguez made several spectacular saves over the course of the game, including stopping a penalty kick late in the first half.
Sophomore
Kenya Davis (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo) had two shots on goal for the Lions.
Nicole Cahill led the Griffins with two goals and an assist.
The women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 when they host Holy Family University at Lions Stadium.  Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
