Senior goalkeeper
Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) tied her own school record for saves in a game as the Lions women's soccer team lost their East Coast Conference season opener to Molloy College 12-0 Saturday afternoon in Rockville Centre, New York.
Rodriguez recorded 22 saves in the contest, equaling her mark of 22 set last season against Salem University. Â The senior goalkeeper had 11 saves in both periods against the Lions of Molloy. Â Â Rodriguez's 22 saves also equals the most in a game by a Division II player this season, which was set last week by Taylor Little of Post University against New York Tech.
The senior goalkeeper has 45 saves this season and is currently the active career leader in total saves for NCAA Division II with 424 and saves per game averaging 8.83 per game.
Seven different Molloy players scored with Meghan O'Callahan and Dana Poetzsch each recording a hat-trick with three goals apiece.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 when they host Salem University at Lions Stadium. Â Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
