Mercy College completed a season sweep of Lincoln University Sunday afternoon, defeating the Lions 11-2 and 12-1 at Mercy Field in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

Sheldon Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) drove in both Lincoln runs with a two-run double in the opener while
Malcolm Smith's (Los Angeles, Calif./Susan Miller Dorsey) bases loaded walk in the fifth inning accounted for the Lions lone run in the nightcap.

Marcos Castillo (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS of Telecommunications) (0-5) took the loss for the Lions in game one, while
Rolando Alvarez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional ) (0-10) took the loss in game two.

John's double was one of five hits for the Lions in the opening game.Â
Jordan Whisler (Parkesburg, Pa./Octorara Area) added two singles while
Jason Aldred (Clinton, Md./Henry A. Wise ) and
Jalil Banks (Lynwood, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) had the other two hits, both singles. In the nightcap, Lincoln tallied just two hits, a double by Hill in the first and a single by Rorer in the fifth inning.

The Lions trailed 4-0 in the opener when Johnson took the first pitch from MC's Jack Kelly and sent it to the gap in left centerfield for a two-run double scoring Rorer and Banks and cutting the score to 4-2. The Mavericks added three more runs in the bottom fo the fifth and two apiece in the sixth and eighth innings to round out the scoring.

In the nightcap, Lincoln was again trailing 4-0 when they got on the board with a single run in the fifth. Rorer walked on four pitches to start the inning.Â
Kashif Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) and
Max Guadalupe (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bluefield College) also drew walks to load the bases for Smith, who worked a full count before drawing the Lions' fourth consecutive walk, plating Rorer with the Lions only run.

Mercy blew the game open with an eight run fifth inning to rounds out their scoring.

The Lions fall to 1-36 with the loss and 0-24 in East coast Conference games. Mercy improves to 21-23 overall and 13-11 in league play.

The Lions will close out their season with a four game homestand beginning on Friday, May 3, 2019 when they host the University of Bridgeport. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
