Malcolm Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Susan Miller Dorsey) broke out of a big slump with three hits in the opening game of Lincoln's four game baseball series with Mercy College and
Kashif Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) drove in four runs in game two as Mercy recorded a two game sweep of the Lions, 23-4 and 23-7 Saturday afternoon at Mercy Field in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

Smith, who had been hitless in his last 21 at-bats had three consecutive hits starting with a fifth inning single. The junior first baseman added an RBI triple in the seventh inning and a single in his final at bat in the ninth inning.

Hill in game two also had three hits, driving in the Lions' first two runs with a triple in the sixth inning, a single in the eighth and a two-out two-RBI double in te ninth inning.Â
Jordan Whisler (Parkesburg, Pa./Octorara Area) hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Smith accounted for the remaining Lincoln RBI, reaching on a one-out outfield error in the eighth inning, scoring Hill.

Ronald Gibbs (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) (1-8) took the loss in the first game while
Trevon Sutton (Chicago, Ill./Harlan Community Academy) (0-2) took the loss in game two.

In the opener, The Lions struck twice in their first at-bat as Hill scored following a triple from
Max Guadalupe (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bluefield College). Two batters later
Aidan Gomes (Bronx, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) drew a walk and then with
Jason Aldred (Clinton, Md./Henry A. Wise ) at the plate, Guadalupe and Gomes and executed a perfect delayed double steal with Guadalupe scoring and giving the Lions a 2-0 lead.

The Mavericks came back and scored nine times in the bottom half of the first inning to take control of the game. John Mooradian drove in three runs on two hits in the inning. He finished the game with four hits and four RBI. Mercy added one run (a solo home run by Joseph Sadallah) in the third and multiple runs in four of the next five innings.

Hill singled with one out in the seventh and scored on Smith's triple. Smith scored when Gomes reached on an error, accounting for the final two Lincoln runs

In game two, the Mavericks jumped out to a 13-0 lead before the Lions struck for two via Hill's triple in the sixth. Whisler's two-run home run in the seventh made the score 14-4 before Mercy added seven more runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Lions scored three times in their final two at-bats to make the final score 23-7.

Mooradian drove in six runs in game two for the Mavericks, giving him ten RBI on the afternoon and Anthony Murphy hit a three-run home run in the third inning of the nightcap.

The Lions fall to 1-34 overall with the two losses and 0-22 in East Coast Conference action.Â
Mercy improves to 19-23 overall and 11-11 in league play.

The two teams will close out their season series with a doubleheader at Mercy Field tomorrow, April 28, 2019.  First pitch is at noon.
