Panthers Sweep Lions in CIAA North Division Action

The Lincoln University women's softball team played their first two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) north Division games Saturday, taking on Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.  The Panther swept their doubleheader with the Lions 22-0 and 15-0.
 
Lincoln's Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill. /Joliet Catholic Academy) had one hit in each contest while Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich. /Summit Academy) had a pair of hits in the second game.  Rodriguez  broke up a no-hitter with her single in the fourth inning of the first game, moving Kyleigh Norwood (Falls Church, Va. /Fairmont Heights) who was hit by a pitch to third base and giving the Lions their best chance to score.  She extended her hitting streak to four games with her single in the second game. 
 
Russaw had a hit in her first at-bat in game two and notched her second hit in the fifth inning, both singles.  She also had a stolen base.
 
Norwood took the loss in the first game while Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J. /Barnegat) took the loss in game two.
 
VUU's Audrenik Howard slugged three home runs in the two games, two off Norwood in the opener and another off Crudup in the nightcap.  Diamond Jones also had a home run in the first game for the Panthers.  Howard finished the afternoon with seven RBI.
 
Summer Morach earned the win for the Panthers in the opener while Erica Tiscarino got the win in the nightcap.  Tiscarino also had five RBI in the second game.
 
The Lions fall to 2-18 overall and 1-8 in league play with the losses. The Panthers improve to 6-13 on the season.
