The Lincoln University baseball team banged out ten hits including a home run by
Kashif Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) but it was not enough as Salem University completed a three-game sweep of their series Friday afternoon with a 10-6 win at Frank Loria Field in Nutter Fort, West Virginia.

The Lions fall to 0-5 on the season while the Tigers improve to 4-5.

Hill finished the afternoon with three runs batted in, two on a single in the third and his solo home run in the eighth inning. Max Guadalupe, Grant Lindsay and
Kendall Bonner (Mattison, Ill./Rich Central ) also had RBI's on the afternoon. Lindsay, Hill and
Malcolm Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Susan Miller Dorsey) had two hits apiece.

A five run first inning put the Lions into catch-up mode right away. Tyler Ault had an RBI triple and Dalton Robison belted a two run home run to highlight the inning.

The Lions mustered two runs in the top half of the second and relished a three-run third inning to tie the game at 5-5. Lindsay's one out double plated the first run in the second following singles from Smith and Guadalupe. Two batters later Bonner drew a bases-loaded walk to score Guadalupe with the second LU run.Â

In the third Guadalupe was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded scoring
CarVonte Williams (Cleveland, Ohio/Twinsburg) who singled to start the inning, closing the gap to 5-3. Two batters later Hill delivered a one out single, scoring
RJ Liverpool (Richmond, Va./Monacan) (bunt single) and Smith (walk), tying the game at 5-5.

The Tigers retook the lead in the bottom half of the third as Thirus Jones delivered an RBI triple and later scored on Robison's sacrifice fly (his third RBI) to take a 7-5 lead. The Tigers added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to increase their lead to 9-5 before Hill blasted his solo shot in the top half of the eighth, giving the Lions their final run of the day.

Salem rounded out the scoring with a single run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kyle Sears got the win in relief for the Tigers pitching two innings of one-hit ball in relief of Sam Chapman who gave up Lincoln's first five runs.

Lincoln resumes action on February 26, 2019 when they begin their spring break trip with a doubleheader at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
