Four players scored in double figures as the Lincoln University men's basketball team decisively snapped a five-game losing streak with a 78-57 win over Millersville University Tuesday night at Manuel Rivero Hall.
The Lions improve to 2-7 overall while Millersville falls to 3-4
Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) and
Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) led all scorers with 17 points apiece. Camper shot 5-9 from the field and was 6-8 at the free throw line while blue was 5-8 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line.Â
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) notched his fourth double-double of the season with 12 rebounds and ten points while
Resean White (Suffolk, Va./Churchland) made three three-pointers en route to 11 points on the night.Â
Markus Stevenson (Voorhees, N.j./Hillcrest Prep (Ariz.) (Angelina College)) added 12 rebounds while Blue led the team with eight assists.
The Marauders had the early lead before the Lions exploded with a 20-5 run to turn as four-point deficit into an 11-point lead with 10:29 left.  Camper started the run with a three-point jumper from the left corner and three possessions later the Lions had run off ten straight points and took a 12-6 lead. Following an MU basket, got consecutive baskets from
Brendan Wagner (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic (Manor College)) and Blue and
Keynante Williams (Fredericksburg, Va./Rock Creek Christian Academy) later capped the run with three free throws to make the score 22-11.
The Lions built their lead to 16, 32-16 with 4:49 left in the half before the Marauders used a 12-2 run to pull within six 34-28 with just over two minutes left in the half. Smith's three-ball with a minute left gave Lincoln a double-digit advantage again before Millersville added a bucket to make the score 39-30 heading into the locker room at the half.
Lincoln took firm control of the game in the first six minutes of the second half, outscoring the Marauders 17-3 to take their biggest lead at 56-33 with 13:49 left. Â Dunks from Camper and
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) along with a pair of three-balls from White highlighted the opening flurry. The Marauders would come no closer than 15 points the rest of the way and Lincoln finished the game with an 8-2 flurry to provide the final 21-point margin.
Lincoln dominated the free throw line, outscoring the Marauders 21-3 while shooting at an 84% clip (21-25). The Lions also dominated the boards, outrebounding their foe 51-27 including a 40-17 margin on the defensive glass. Lincoln shot 48.1% from the field (25-52) while Millersville shot 32.4% (23-71).
Justin Nwosu and Khari Williams led the Marauders with 13 points apiece. while James Sullivan added 11.
The men's basketball team returns to action on Thursday December 5, 2019 with an home game against Washington Adventist University. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
