The home portion of the Lincoln University women's volleyball team's 2019 season came to a close Tuesday night as the Lions honored their three seniors before dropping their final home contest to Virginia State University 3-0.

The Lions fall to 1-20 overall and 1-13 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) games. The Trojans improve to 14-10 overall and 11-3 in league play. VSU won the match with scores of 25-12, 25-6, and 25-9.
Jasmin Lewis (Baltimore/Western) led the Lions with three kills while
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) added 1 kill and four assists.Â
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) had nine digs and moved into second place on Lincoln's all-time digs list with 708 for her career.
In between the second and third set, the team held a brief ceremony honoring LU's three seniors who were playing their final home game in a Lincoln uniform:Â
Saviare Gilliam (), Kaymoni Kent (Philadelphia, Pa./W.B. Saul (Community Coll. Of Philadelphia)) and Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy).
Gilliam arrived at Lincoln in the fall of 2018 and practiced with the team after attending Community College of Philadelphia. She made her collegiate debut this season in the Lions opening match against Notre Dame University of Maryland and she has appeared in 12 matches this season, starting five, including tonight's contest.
Kent also attended Community College of Philadelphia and played two seasons there before transferring to Lincoln in the fall of 2018. She has 21 kills this season along with 46 digs in 20 matches played. Kent played in 11 matches in 2018 and recorded four blocks. She is a criminal justice major
Russaw has been a four-year starter for the Lions, playing in 878 matches over her four seasons. The senior setter/outside hitter is Lincoln's all-time leader in service attempts with 859 and ranks fourth on the Lions all-time digs list (685); fifth on the Lions' all-time assists list (263) and tenth on LU's all-time kills list (230). Russaw currently leads the team with 24 aces and is second on the team with 154 dig. As Lincoln's primary setter for most of this season, Russaw leads the team with 202 assists She is a health science major.
Jailyn Ivey led VSU with ten kills while Alexis Baker had 11 digs. Emma Quarles and Ashanti Day had four aces apiece.
The Lions return to action on Thursday, November 14, 2019 when they close out their season with a contest at bowie State University. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m.
