Kwanza Murray (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) scored 17 of her game-high 24 points in the second half as the Lincoln University women's basketball team rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat area rival West Chester University 75-66 Tuesday night at Hollinger Field House in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

The Lions improve to 4-1 overall while the Golden Rams fall to 2-3.

Patterson missed just one shot the entire second half and two the entire game, shooting 9-11 from the field enroute to 21 points. The junior forward also grabbed 10 rebounds and added two steals. Murray put up similar shooting numbers in the second half, making six of nine shots with two three-pointers and three free throws, finishing the game with 24 points, making 9 of 16 shots in total.

Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin (Nyack)) added eight points and
DeAshia Young (Detroit, Mich./Detroit Public Safety Academy (Labette CC)) chipped in seven while dished out a team-high five assists.Â
Alisia Machado (Brooklyn, N.Y./Medgar Evars Prep (Grambling)) and
Joy Morton (Lansdowne, Pa./Penn Wood (Harford C.C.)) each had six rebounds

It was the Golden Rams in control for most of the second quarter as they took a slim three-point lead at the end of the first period and extended it to nine by halftime 42-33.

The third quarter marked the turning point of the game for Lincoln as the Lions came out firing on all cylinders, both offensively and defensively. On the offensive end The Lions made 56% of their third quarter shots (9-16) while outscoring the Golden Rams 22-11. The Lincoln defense was the key to the offensive prowess as the Lions forced eight turnovers, leading to 13 points.

The Lions opened the quarter with a 9-2 run to pull within two 44-42 just 3:17 into the quarter. A three-ball by WCU's Leah Johnson (team-high 20 points) pushed the Golden Ram lead back to five before the Lions scored seven straight points capped by Patterson's traditional three-point play to take a 49-47 lead, their first since scoring the opening basket. West Chester's Gabby Troisi put the Golden Rams on top again before Murray sank two straight three-balls to give the Lions a 55-50 lead. A three-point basket by West Chester as the buzzer sound made it a two point game entering the final quarter.

West Chester tried the game three times in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter with the last coming with 6:17 left (60-60). Lincoln then exploded with 12 straight points to open up the first double-digit lead by either team 72-60 with 2:46 left. Highlighting the run was the second layup-plus-one completed by Patterson. West Chester would come no closer than nine the rest of the way.

Lincoln turned in their best shooting effort of the young season, hitting 50% (28-56) of their shots while holding the Golden Rams to 39% (23-59) shooting. The Lions also had a decisive advantage on the boards, outrebounding West Chester 43-28. The Golden Rams committed four fewer turnovers but the Lions held a 20-16 advantage in the points off turnovers category.

The women's team will be back in action on Thursday, November 21, 2019 when they host Shippensburg University at Manuel Rivero Hall. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
