Last time out for Lincoln: The young Lions squad produced more rushing and more total yards than Livingstone College in last week's home opener but this effort did not translate to points on the board as the Blue Bears handed the lions a 35-19 loss. Lincoln produced a season high 113 yards on the ground with the bulk of the yardage coming from a pair of newcomers,
Amir Gerald (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) (52 yards) and
Khalid Wilson (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Frommel Smith) (40 yards). The rushing effort helped the Lions to a 279-278 advantage in total yards gained in the game, a feat the Lions had not accomplished since a 20-10 win over Shaw University in 2015. Eban Jackson threw for 166 yards to five different receivers and also ran for two of the Lions three scores.
Shoye Sampson (Richmond, Va./John Marshall) had four catches for 84 yards while
Richie Goslee (Suitland, Md./The Avalon School) added three catches for 46 yards. The Lions' first score came from the special teams as
Roosevelt Jordan (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) blocked an LC punt in the end zone and
Rahmel Turner (Hamilton, N.J /Hamilton West) recovered the ball for a touchdown.
Last Time out for JCSU: Johnson C. Smith University jumped out to a 9-0 lead against Virginia State in their CIAA opener last week before the Trojans came back with 31 unanswered points to win 31-15. Emmanuel Wilson ran for 143 yards and one touchdown while Malik Evans added 136 yards rushing and 92 in the air. Janarius Hood had five receptions for 59 yards and one touchdown. Cristian Benitez drilled a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter. David Francis led the Golden Bull defense with a team-high five tackles (one for loss)
