The Lions trailed by eight with 5:16 left but used an 11-3 run to force overtime, with Blue's layup at the 1:17 mark, knotting the score at 81-81.  Both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock but were unable to do so sending the contest to an extra five minute period for the second year in a row.

Chowan scored five of the first six points in overtime to take an 86-82 lead.  Green closed the gap to one, making three of four free throws, the last with just 11.8 seconds left.  CU's Xavier Young (12 pts.) added two free throws to push the hawk lead back to three.  Campbell's three-point attempt was off the mark and the Hawks added one more point at the charity stripe to round out the scoring.

In the opening half the Lions jumped  out to an eight point lead, 15-7 before the Hawks rallied with eight straight points to tie the game.  The game was still tied at 21-21 when a 7-2 Hawk run gave the home team a 28-23 lead.  Lincoln pulled within one  in the final minute but five free throws by the Hawks in the final 40 seconds pushed the lead to six at the break 37-31.

Chowan pushed their lead to as many as 11 early in the second half before the Lions started to chip away, using a 17-8 spurt to tie the game again at 61-61, with Campbell scoring 10 of the 17 points.  After Maurice Waters' (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution (Univ.
