Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lincoln Drops Third Straight Game, Falling to Chestnut Hill 3-1

The Lincoln University women's soccer team scored early in their contest against Chestnut Hill College but was unable to maintain a lead as they fell to the Griffins 3-1 Wednesday evening at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.

The Lions fall to 0-3 with the loss.  Chestnut Hill improves to 1-1.

Kenya Davis (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo) got the Lions on the board at the 6:06 mark with her first collegiate goal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.  Samanta Sosa (Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras/Freedom (Harris-Stowe)) was credited with the assist on the play.

The Lions defense held onto the 1-0 lead as the first half progressed with Griffins outshooting the Lions 9-2 over the next 33 minutes.  It was the Griffins' next shot (their 12th of the half) however that tied the game at 1-1 as Sabrina Shinkowitz evened the match with her first goal of the season.

Shinkowitz scored her second goal of the game in the 69th minute and the Griffins added an insurance goal in the 87th minute to secure the 3-1 win.

Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy), despite a career high 16 saves, took the loss in goal, falling to 0-2 on the season.  Davis and Diana Martinez (Kissimmee, Fla./St. Cloud) finished the game with two shots apiece.  Lincoln was out shot 32-5 in the contest.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, September 8, 2018 when they travel to face Salem University in Salem, West Virginia.
