The Lions took the first two sets 25-13 and 25-19 before the Bulldogs rallied to win the third set 25-19.  Lincoln responded and took the fourth set 25-19 to capture the 3-1 win. The Lions improve to 1-8 overall with the win and 1-6 in CIAA matches and 1-0 in divisional play.  Bowie State falls to 1-8 overall, 0-8 in CIAA games and 0-1 in divisional play.

Lincoln jumped out to an early lead in the opening set, taking a 13-9 lead before scoring ten of the next 11 points for their biggest lead of the set 23-10.  A kill from Lee and a service error by the Bulldogs provided the final two points to give the Lions a 25-13 win.  Lee had four kills in five attack attempts in the opening set, all without and error.

In the second set, Lincoln jumped out to a 6-1 lead and increased it to 12-4 and 20-9 before the Bulldogs started to build some momentum and fight their way back into the set, pulling within six with a 7-2 run, 22-16.  The two teams exchanged points the rest of the set with the Lions game winner again coming from a Bulldog service error.

The Bulldogs' momentum carried over into the third set as they jumped out to a 9-4 lead.  Lincoln battled back to tie the game at 11-11 and then take brief leads at 13-12 and 17-16.  Bowie State regained the lead with a 7-0 run to hold a 23-17 advantage.  The Lions followed with two straight points before the Bulldogs closed out the set 25-19.

Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) opened the fourth set with two straight aces before the Bulldogs scored four of the next five points to take an early 4-3 lead.  The Lions countered with seven straight points to take control at 10-4 but the Bulldogs battled back with a 10-4 run to tie the score at 14-14 and later take an 18-17 lead.  Lee's kill tied the score at 18-18 and Kaylarose Scott (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hudson Catholic) followed with an ace to give Lincoln the lead for good at 19-18.  Four straight attack errors by the Bulldogs put the Lions in control at 23-18.  The Lions then closed out the match, scoring two of the next three points to take the set 25-19.

The women's volleyball team returns to action on Sunday, September 30, 2018 when they host Elizabeth city State University at 11:00 a.m.  The match is a makeup for the contest that was postponed earlier this month due to the hurricane that hit North Carolina.
