Diamond Scott (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) broke the Lincoln University single season stolen base record and hit a home run as the Lions concluded their 2018 season with a doubleheader sweep of Trinity Washington University 13-1 and 14-1 Thursday afternoon at Gallaudet Field in Washington, D.C.

The Lions conclude their season with a 4-17 record while Trinity finishes at 0-24.

Scott stole two bases in each game to bring her single season total to 20 and breaking Sharay Dubose's season record of 17 set back in 2011.  The senior shortstop finishes her career with 30 steals, one shy of Dubose's career record of 31. Diamond had only one hit in the two games but it was a big one, a three-run inside-the-park home run in game two as the Lions blew the contest open with a nine-run fourth inning.

The home run was the Lion's first of the season. Scott finished her final season with a .395 batting average (2
nd on the team) and tied for the team lead in hits (17).

McKenzie Spencer (Richmond, Va./Henrico) had a triple in the opener and a RBI single in game two to finish her season with a team leading .567 batting average and hits in nine of her ten games played.
She also stole three bases in the two games to finish the season with 11 steals and tied a school record with a perfect 11-for-11 swipes on the season. Spencer finished 2018 tied for the team lead with 17 hits, led the team in runs scored (17), doubles (7), triples (3), total bases (30), on-base % (.629) and slugging percentage (1.000).

Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) had five hits in the two games, including a triple in each contest while driving in five runs to finish as the team's leader with 17 RBI on the season. Â Russaw, one of four Lions to play in every game this season also tied for the team lead with 17 hits. Â She ended the year batting .333.

Jemiah Groce (Newark, Del./Christiana) earned complete game victories in both contests to improve to 5-15 on the season. The freshman pitcher also had three hits on the afternoon and drove in five runs, three on a bases-loaded double in the second game and another with a double in the opener.  The two doubles were the first two collegiate extra-base hits of her career.  On the season, Groce finished the year as the team leader in strikeouts with 34.

Back to game action, the Lions scored early and often in the opener, plating four runs in the first and five more in the second inning to open a 9-1 lead before adding insurance runs in the final two at-bats to earn the 13-1 run.

Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) drove in the final two runs of the first inning with a single to centerfield while Russaw and Groce drove in the first two runs. Russaw opened the scoring in the second with an RBI triple and later scored on wild pitch. Groce added an RBI double, scoring
Selena Mulet (Baltimore, Md./Catholic HS of Baltimore) and
Kyleigh Norwood (Falls Church, Va./Fairmont Heights) an RBI single scoring Groce.Â

Faith Queen (Landover, Md./Fairmont Heights) drove in a run in the fourth while Russaw drove in the Lions final two runs of the game in the fifth with a single.

The Lions started out the same way in game two, scoring four runs in their first at-bat. Spencer got it started with an RBI single in the first to score Russaw. Groce then walked to load the bases before the Lions added their second run on a triple steal wit Mulet stealing home. Queen's infield groundout out plated the third run and Norwood reached on an error to score Groce with the fourth run.

Rodriguez singled in the third to plate Queen, who had doubled, to give the Lions a 5-1 lead before the team busted the game wide open with a nine-run fourth inning.

Scott walked, stole two bases and scored on Russaw's single to open the fourth. Mulet reached on an error and Spencer walked to load the bases for Groce who lifted a double into right centerfield to clear the bases. Norwood singled to score Groce before Scott launched a shot over the center-fielders head and against the wall as she raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run and three more Lincoln runs. Russaw tripled and later scored on an error to round out the scoring.

Trinity scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Alyssa King. Â Amaya King followed with a single but Groce shut down the next two batters to end the inning with the Lions leading 14-1.

Groce allowed just one base runner in the Tigers final at-bat as she closed out the game to earn her fifth win of the season.
