Box Score 2 The Lincoln University women's softball team dropped both ends of their Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) North Division doubleheader on Saturday losing 13-2 and 10-0 to Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.

The two losses drop the Lions record to 2-16 and 0-14 in league games while Chowan improves to 14-0 in CIAA contests and 25-14 overall. Both games were ended after five innings due to the NCAA's eight run-rule.

Diamond Scott (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) and
Jemiah Groce (Newark, Del./Christiana) had the only two hits for the Lions with Scott scoring both Lincoln runs. Groce took the loss, tossing four innings and giving up eight hits while striking out one.

Kris Neal had three hits to lead the Hawks while Brittany Parson hit a solohome run and Beth Walker drove in three runs (all without a single hit). EmaRae Flores earned the win for the Hawks.

The Lions took an early 1-0 lead when Scott doubled and then stole third before scoring on
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy)'s sacrifice fly.Â

The Hawks took advantage of a pair of Lincoln errors in their first trip ot the plate, scoring six times to take a 6-1 lead. They added two more in the second on Neal's triple, a sac fly by Haley Cooper and Parson's home run.

Lincoln added another run in the third when Groce led off with a single, extending her hitting streak to a team season-high five games.Â
Fifia Waithe (Bronx, N.Y./Life Sciences Secondary) came in to run for Groce and Scott replaced her on the base paths reaching on a fielder's choice. Scott stole second and advance to third on a throwing error by the Chowan catcher.Â
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) then laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Scott and make the score 8-2.

Chowan added five more runs in the bottom of the third to round out the scoring.

In game two Chowan pitcher Shannon Buchanan held the Lions to just one hit as the Hawks remained unbeaten in league play with a 10-0 win. Buchanan struck out seven in three inning pitched while reliever Shelby Griffis struck out six in the last two innings.

McKenzie Spencer (Richmond, Va./Henrico) got the lone Lincoln hit, a second inning single. Spencer then stole second and eventually reached third base being stranded as the inning ended.
Faith Queen (Landover, Md./Fairmont Heights) (3
rd inning error) and
Selena Mulet (Baltimore, Md./Catholic HS of Baltimore) (fifth inning walk) were the only two other Lincoln players to reach base.

Chowan scored seven times in the bottom of the second, added a solo run in the third and two more on Cooper's two run home run in the fourth to round out the scoring.

The Lions will conclude their road trip on Sunday with two games at Elizabeth City State University. First pitch is at noon.
