Box Score Saint Augustine's University scored at least one run in every inning as they defeated the Lincoln University women's softball team 10-0 in five innings Friday afternoon in their second game of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) softball Roundup at the South Park Complex in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

The Lions fall to 0-4 on the season and 0-2 in league games. The Falcons improve to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in league play.

Lincoln had three hits in the game, singles by
Breanna Pigford (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional),
Kyleigh Norwood (Falls Church, Va./Fairmont Heights) and
Ny'air Best (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City). Jemiah Grace took the loss, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing nine hits and five earned runs with one walk.

Akera McPhaul has the big game for the Falcons with a single, a grand slam home run and four RBI. Mechelle Moss picked up the win pitching the complete game shutout.

Lincoln had their best opportunity to score in their first at bat.
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) was hit by a pitch with one out and two batters later Pigford followed with a single. However both runners were left stranded as Groce struck out to end the inning.

The Falcons scored solo runs in the first, second and fourth innings and plated two runs in the third, both unearned to take a 5-0 lead heading into the top half of the fifth.

In the top half of the fifth, the Falcon's plated one run and loaded the bases for McPhaul who took a pitch fromÂ
Diamond Scott (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) and put it over the left-centerfield fence for a grand slam home run and a 10-0 Falcon lead.

The Lions went down in order in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

Play will continue at the CIAA roundup on Saturday, March 17, 2018 with the Lions playing Fayetteville State University and Winston Salem State University.
