Tigers Rally to Defeat Lions

The Holy Family University men's basketball team rallied from a double-digit second half deficit to defeat Lincoln 81-75 Saturday afternoon at Manuel Rivero Hall.
 
The loss evens the Lions record at 4-4.  Holy Family improves to 3-2.
 
Lincoln got a double-double from Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) with  a team high 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.  Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) had 12 points and a career-high nine assists.  Gevon Arrington (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) also scored 12 points while Tamir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) chipped in ten points and dished out six assists.
 
Vincenzo Dalessandro led the Tigers with 24 points and ten rebounds.  Kharon Randolph added 20 points while Patrick Robinson chipped in 15 points and dished out five assists.  Dymir Montague added 14 points.
 
A competitive and close game for much of the first 26 minutes, the two teams were knotted at 51-51 at the 14:32 mark, the tenth tie of the game, when the Lions put together a 17-4 run over a 4:37 stretch to open up a 13 point lead 68-55 lead. Lincoln's defense forced four turnovers during the run with each resulting in a score capped by Arrington's three-point basket at the 9:55 mark.
 
A Blue dunk following another Tiger turnover gave the Lions a 70-57 lead at the 8:39 mark when the Tigers began to turn the tables. Forcing four turnovers over a six minute stretch to produce a 15-2 run and tie the game at 72-72 with 2:34 left.  Following another LU turnover the Tigers Randolph went to the free throw line and made both shots to give the Tigers a 74-72 lead.  Williams tied the game again with a layup with 2:01 left before the Tigers closed it out with a 7-1 run over the final 1:34 which included a 5-8 effort on the free throw line.  
 
In the opening half, it was Holy Family who jumped out to a 17-4 lead over the first 6:31 of the game before the Lions rallied with 11 straight points from five different players to pull within two 17-15 with 8:24 left in the period. A little over three minutes later the Lions had their first lead at 29-27.  The Tigers stayed close however, forcing six ties in the final 4:26 as both teams went into the locker-room even at 39-39.
 
The Lions return to action on Wednesday December 5, 2018 when they host Central State University at Manuel Rivero Hall.  Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
