Lions Look to Extend Win Streak against Livingstone College Monday Night

The Series:

Since the 2008-09 season Livingstone and Lincoln have met 12 times with the Blue Bears leading the series 9-3.  Lincoln's last win came on December 13, 2016, a 70-68 victory at Manuel Rivero Hall.  The Lions are 3-3 at home vs. the Blue Bears
 

About the Lions: 

Lincoln University enters Thursday's game with a 7-4 overall record and a 2-0 record in conference games.  The Lions have won three straight games and five of their last six contests dating back to November 27.
 
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) is averaging 14.1 points per game and a team high 9.0 rebounds per game.  He  leads the team with four double-doubles and is second on the Lions squad  with nine blocks
 
Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian) is the Lions second leading scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game.  He also leads the team shooting 45.8% from three point range.
 
Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) has recorded three-double-doubles on the season and is averaging 9.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. (second behind Williams)  He also leads the team with 17 steals
 
Maurice Waters (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution (Univ. District of Columbia)) leads the team, shooting 57.6% from the field (34-59). Tamir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) leads the team with 33 assists.  Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) leads the team shooting 81.8% from the free throw line (27-33) and has a team-high 11 blocks on the season.
 

Last Time Out

Four players scored in double figures as the Lincoln University men's basketball team won their third consecutive game and second straight conference game, holding off a late rally to defeat Winston-Salem State University 81-77 Saturday afternoon at Manuel Rivero Hall.

The win marks the first time the Lions have opened conference play with two straight wins since the 2014-15 season.   
 
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden)  led all players with 20 points while grabbing a game-high eight rebounds. Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian) added 14 points and Maurice Waters (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution (Univ. District of Columbia)) chipped in 13.  Gevon Arrington (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) came off the bench to round out the double figure scorers, adding ten points.  Tamir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) recorded a career-high nine assists to lead all players.

Hitting the Century Mark

Lincoln scored 107 points against Central State on December 5. It was the Lions first 100-point game of their CIAA era.   The game marked the first time a Lions team has posted 100 or more points since scoring 106 on February 7, 2008 in an overtime loss to St. Paul's College.(108-106).

Seeing Double

Williams and Blue have each recorded multiple double-doubles on the season. Williams notched his fourth double-double of the season in the Lions win over Johnson C. Smith as he scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Against Holy Family, he scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.  He also had 15 points and 17 rebounds at Millersville and turned in a 26-point, 10-rebound effort against Seton Hill
 
Blue notched his third double-double of the season on November 27th against USciences with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  He also had 16 points and 10 rebounds vs. Kutztown and a 14-point, 12-rebound effort at Shippensburg.  The pair still have the most double-doubles amongst all CIAA players.

Rookie of the Week Honors

Freshman Bernard Lightsey was named the CIAA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for his performance during Lincoln's two games during the week ending November 25, a win over nationally ranked Kutztown and a loss to Seton Hill.   Lightsey scored a career-high 25 points in the win over Kutztown and added 21 against Seton Hill to finish the week averaging 23.0 points per game.

Home Opener Win

Campbell's three point shot at the buzzer was the difference in the double overtime win over nationally ranked Kutztown.   Campbell was one of five Lions to reach double figure scoring in the game.  Bernard Lightsey, in his first collegiate start, knocked down ten field goals (three three's) en route to a career-high 25 points.  Campbell added 19 while Zahrion Blue recorded another double-double with 16 points and ten boards.  Maurice Waters (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution (Univ. District of Columbia)) (13 points) and Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) (11 points) rounded out the double figure scorers for Lincoln.

The Lions rallied from 12 points down with 2:48 left in regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime.  The two teams remained tied after one overtime and in the second extra stanza appeared ready to go to a third after KU tied the game with 4.3 seconds left at 91-91. Campbell put that all to rest, sinking a long three-ball from the right side as the buzzer sounded.

A Division II program best:

Williams recorded a double-double in the Lions loss to Millersville with 15 points and 17 rebounds.  His 17 rebounds are the most by a Lincoln player in the school's NCAA Division II era (2010- present). The most rebounds a single game throughout the history of the program was 31 set by George Turner in 1965 against Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (now known as USciences)

 

Scouting the Blue Bears

Livingstone is currently 6-3 overall and 0-1 in league games following an 82-76 loss to Virginia Union on Saturday.  The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Blue Bears
 
Roger Ray leads Livingstone, averaging 16.8 points per game.  He is also the team's playmaker with 64 assists in nine games and tied for the team lead with 15 steals.  He is shooting 88.7% (47-53) from the free throw line.
 
Lysdell Elmore is averaging 13.3 points per game and leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.9 per game.  He is shooting 44% from three point range and along with Ray has 15 steals on the season.
 
Malik Smith rounds out the LC double figure scorers 11.1 points per game.  Kenny Grant leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 67.6% (25-37) in eight games played.u
 

The Blue Bears Last Game

Virginia Union University snapped Livingstone College four game winning streak by the defeating the Blue Bears 82-76 on Saturday, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Lydell Elmore led the Blue Bears with 17 points and Roger Ray contributed with 15. Ray also dished out nine assist on the night. Twin Brother Navar Elmore led the team in rebounds with seven.

The Blue Bears shot 47% from the field making 29 of 62 shots and went 4 of 17 from behind the arch.  From the line LC went 51% connecting on 14 of 27.
