Goldey-Beacom College handed the Lincoln University women's basketball team their third consecutive loss Tuesday night, jumping out to an early lead and sustaining it en route to a 65-54 win at Jones Center in Wilmington, Delaware.

The loss drops the Lions record to 2-4 while Goldey-Beacom improves to 4-2.

Alisia Machado (Brooklyn, N.Y./Medgar Evars Prep (Grambling)) led the Lions with ten points and nine rebounds.  Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin (Nyack)), making her Lincoln debut, also scored ten points.  DeeDee Irwin (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) and Kenzie Spencer (Richmond, Va./Henrico) added eight points apiece.

Amanda McGrogran led the Lightning with 22 points, ten rebounds and six assists.  Sarah Round added 13 points while Tanner Turner-Rush grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Lightning used a 13-2 run during the first quarter to erase an early Lincoln lead and jump out to a ten-point advantage 17-7, increasing that to 12 by quarter's end, 22-10.  Thirteen of the Lightning's 22 points in the quarter came on second chance efforts as GBC  had seven rebounds off the offensive glass.  The Lightning also took advantage of 12 Lincoln turnovers, leading to eight points in the quarter.

The remained at double figures throughout the second quarter, increasing to as many as 16 before  a layup from Brown and a Spencer free throw narrowed the margin to 13 at the break.

An 8-0 run by the Lions in the third quarter brought the deficit down to single digits as baskets from Deja Reynolds (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter (Temple)) and Taylor King (Lorton, Va./Hayfield Academy) along with four straight points from Machado pulled the Lions within seven 38-31 with 4:29 left in the period.  Seven points would be as close as the Lions would come the rest of the way, pulling within seven just once more late in the fourth quarter before the Lightning scored the game's final four points to earn the 65-54 win.

Statistically, the Lightning outscored the Lions 27-9 from three point range and 20-9 from the free throw line while the Lions held a 36-18 scoring advantage with 18 two-point baskets.  Neither team shot especially well with the Lions making 37.5% of their shots to GBC's 28.1%  The Lightning used a dominant effort on the offensive glass (20-10)to score 26 second change points (LU-3).  The Lions finished with 29 turnovers to GBC's 23.
