The Lincoln University women's volleyball team played a thrilling five-set match against Elizabeth City State University Sunday afternoon at ECSU's R.L. Vaughn Center but came up on the short end of a 3-2 score.

The loss drops the Lions record to 1-11 overall and 1-9 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) matches. The Vikings improve to 3-14 overall and 3-8 in league play.

The two teams alternated set wins during the course of the match with the Vikings winning the first (25-11); third (25-22) and the decisive fifth set (15-5) and the Lions winning the second (25-21) and fourth (25-21) sets.

Tierra Russaw (Westland , Mich./Summit Academy) and
Janae Stackhouse (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore PolyTech) led Lincoln with eight kills apiece while
Amanda Lee (Brooklyn, N.Y./Park Slope Collegiate) added seven.Â
Alisa Foster (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) set up the LU attack game with 23 assists.

Foster also shined on the defensive side notching a match-high 21 digs for her second double-double of the season.Â
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) added 18 digs.

The Vikings offense meanwhile, had D'Aysa Williams leading the way with 14 kills and Jahera Dangerfield adding seven. Dangerfield also had 14 assists while Dangerfield led the team with 17.

On the defensive side, Kaylee Williams led the team with 17 digs. Alexis Blackwell added 12 and Wilson had 11. Dangerfield also led the team with three blocks.

The women's volleyball team will be back in action on Monday October 8, 2018 when they face Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Tip off is at 6:00 p.m.
