Rodriguez and Davis Shine During Final Home Game Loss to Tigers

Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) recorded a Lincoln single game record 22 saves and Kenya Davis (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo) scored twice but the Lincoln University Women's Soccer team fell to Salem University 6-2 in their final home game of the season Wednesday night at Lions Stadium.
 
Rodriguez's 22 saves broke the old record set back in 2007 by Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/CH Flowers) against Bryn Mawr College and equaled by Kaylee Dennis in 2015 against Millersville.  The junior goalkeeper had ten saves in the first half and 12 in the second as the Tigers got of a total of 28 shots on goal in the match. 
 
Davis put the Lions on the board with a goal at the 39:50 mark of the first half, cutting the score to 2-1 at the time.  Sarata Bello (Sagamu, Nigeria/Remo Methodist) had the assist.  Salem added two late goals to go up 4-1 at halftime. 
 
In the second half, Davis   took a pass from Tamara Evans (Clayton, Del./Smyrna) and shot it past the Salem keeper to make the score 4-2 in the 54th minute.    Salem scored twice more in the period to round out the scoring. 
 
Lincoln falls to 0-15 with the loss.  Salem improves to 9-3-1 with the win.
 
The Lions will close out their season on Friday, October 26, 2018 when they travel to play nationally ranked Mercy colle in Dobbs Ferry, new York. The Mavericks are ranks seventh nationally are are thetop team in the East region.
