Lions Ready to Take on Vikings in their Homecoming Game on Saturday

The Lincoln University football team returns home for their annual Homecoming Game on Saturday, October 13, 2018.   The Lions will take on Elizabeth City State University for their fourth Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) game of the season and second CIAA North division contest. .   The Lions will be seeking their first win of the season as they take on the 1-3 Panthers.  This will be the 11th meeting between these two teams in the series which dates back to the 2008 season..

Movin' on up….
 
Several Lincoln players have moved up on the Lions all-time statistical lists over the past couple of games…most notably:
Senior Quarterback Vincent Espinoza (Madera, Calif /Madera (West Hills)) has moved into third on the Lions all-time list for pass completions and passing attempts…He now has 148 career completions and 297 attempts in just under two seasons as a Lion.  Espinoza is also now fourth in total offense yards with 2,133
 
On the defensive side:  Senior defensive tackle Solomon Bassett (Fort Worth, Texas/Boswell) has climbed his way up several lists this season.  His four sacks this year gives him 13 for his career, moving him into #4 on the Lions all-time list.  Bassett is also tied for Lincoln's all-time lead with six fumbles recovered and with his blocked kick earlier this season is the Lions all-time leader with three.
 
Senior Deion Miller (Sayreville, N.J /Jersey Coast Academy) has moved into seventh on Lincoln's all-time list for total career tackles with 191 and a tie for fifth with 147 unassisted tackles

#1     Solomon Bassett (Fort Worth, Texas/Boswell) – Defensive Line
    Bassett is having a solid season anchoring the Lions defensive line with nine tackles for loss and four quarterback sacks.  He is second on the team with 30 total tackles.
#7    Lavelle Cloyd (Lexington, Ky./Bryan Station (Kentucky State)) – Running Back
    Is the team's leading rusher on the season with 135 net yards yards…scored a touchdown vs. Johnson C. Smith
#8    Vincent Espinoza (Madera, Calif /Madera (West Hills)) – Quarterback
    Is Lincoln's leader in total offense yards with 532…Leads the team with 413 yards passing (38-84) while appearing in all-six games.  Is second on the team with 119 net yards rushing…
#11   Reginald Mays Jr. (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin (Frostburg)) – Wide receiver/returner
    Has 16 catches on the season for 241 yards receiving to lead the Lions.  Has also recorded 92 yards on kickoff and punt returns
#22   Tayonte McKenzie (Washington, D.C. /Bell ) -  Kick Returner/Defensive Back
    Named ECAC Division II Rookie of the month for September for his performance in Lincoln's five games…recorded 107 yards on kickoff returns vs. JCSU and leads the team with 364, averaging 28 yards per return..
#32   Deion Miller (Sayreville, N.J /Jersey Coast Academy) – Strong Safety
    Has been one of the anchors in the defensive secondary, leading the team with 32 tackles this season.
 
 
Elizabeth City State Vikings

#7  Kedrick Patterson  (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) - Quarterback
     Patterson has thrown for 506 yards on the season, has thrown 5 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Patterson has found his footing recently as the freshman rushed for 57 yards against Virginia State last week.
 
#8 Miacah Cooper   (Savannah, Ga./Memorial Day) – Linebacker
    Cooper is pacing the Vikings on the defensive end; leading in tackles (29), tackles for loss (6), and sacks (3.0).
 
#6 Gregory Bryan  (Washington, D.C./Milford Academy) – running back
    Leads the team with 213 yards rushing…had a 71-yard touchdown run in the Vikings win over Central State in their season opener.
