Box Score The Lincoln University men's basketball team's comeback from a double digit second half deficit fell just short as Bowie State University held off the Lions late charge to earn a 69-64 win before a packed house at Manuel Rivero Hall Saturday afternoon.

The Lions fall to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) games. The Bulldogs improve to 8-10 overall and 3-4 in league play.

Gevon Arrington (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) led all scorers with 19 points while
Elijah Bush (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore (Essex County CC)) contributed 15.Â
Sean James (Newark, Del./Christiana (Iona)) was the onlyother LU player in double figures with 11 points.Â
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) led the team with seven rebounds.

Ahmaad Wilson and Omari George had 17 points apiece to lead four Bulldogs in double figures. Dayshawn Wells and Cameron Hayes added 10 points apiece. Saiquan Jamison led all players with a game-high 13 rebounds. Wilson also had five assists.

Bowie State took their first lead with just 1:18 left in the first half and turned a three-point halftime lead into an 11-point margin, 49-38 with 11:38 left to go in the game. The Lions used a 12-4 flourish over the next three minutes to cut the deficit down to three, 53-50 by the 8:09 mark. Half of those points came off the hot hand of
TreVaughn Wilkerson (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (Hartford)) who connected on two three point field goals.Â

The Bulldogs bounced right back, extending their lead back to eight 60-52 before James ignited another LU run with a three-ball and a layup. Bush followed with two free throws at the 1:53 mark to bring the deficit down to two at 61-59. After both teams exchanged three-point buckets to keep the margin at two, a pair of costly turnovers by the Lions helped bring Bowie State's lead back up to six, 68-62 as Wilson and Wells made two free throws apiece. Wilkerson was fouled while attempting a three-point shot with 12seconds left and made two of three free throws to cut the lead to four, 68-64. Wilson added another free throw before Jamison stole the inbounds pass from the Lions to seal the win.

Lincoln had scored the first five points of the game and built a nine point lead before the midway point of the first half, only to see it evaporate as the half wore on. The Bulldogs tied the game, the second time at 27-27. Arrington followed with a short jumper and James a bucket from deep to put the Lions back up by five  before Bowie State closed out the half with a 9-1 flourish to lead by three at the break.

The teams turned in nearly identical shooting numbers with the Lions making 23-of-59 shots from the field and the Bulldogs 23-of-60. Lincoln made five more three-pointers than the Bulldogs but were more than doubled upon the free throw line with Bowie State making 19 of 31 from the charity stripe to the Lions' 9-for-14. The Bulldogs held a the edge on the glass, outrebounding the Lions 43-36. Bowie State also committed five fewer turnovers (12/17).

The men's basketball team is idle until next Saturday when they travel to Elizabeth City State University to take on the Vikngs in a CIAA North Division contest. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
