Lincoln University played host this weekend to one of two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Round-ups featuring three schools from the conference's southern division facing off against three schools from the north.

The women's volleyball team played a pair of crossover contests ion Saturday, losing to Johnson C. Smith University 3-1 in their first match of the day and Fayetteville State University 3-0 in their second.

The two losses drop the Lions record to 2-9 overall and 0-8 in CIAA games. Johnson C. Smith lost second their match to Chowan University and sports a 7-3 overall record and a 5-2 conference mark. Fayetteville's win over the Lions was their second of the day and improved their record to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in league play.

In the Lions opening match of the day, JCSU took the first set 25-15 before Lincoln rallied to win the second set 25-15. The Golden Bulls then closed out the match winning the last two sets 25-11 and 25-13.

Mariah Russell (St Louis Mo./Maplewood Richmond Heights) led the Lions with 11 kills while
Aubury Coleman (Mason City, Iowa/ Mason City) added ten. Coleman also hit a team-best .320 with just two errors in 25 attack attempts.Â
Alisa Foster (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Acad.) led the team with 23 assists.
Amaya Booze (Windsor Mill, Md./Franklin) had 11 digs while
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) added eight.

Gorana Bogdanovic and Anteesha Smoots led the Golden Bulls with nine kills apiece. Georgiana Diaz had 13 digs.

The Golden Bulls held a 46-30 advantage in kills and a 47-40 advantage in digs. JSCU also recorded seven aces to the Lions four

Fayetteville turned in a dominant effort in sweeping the Lions 25-15, 25-9 and 25-15, holding a43-18 advantage in kills and had 27 digs to LU's 19. The Broncos also had an 8-1 advantage in service aces.

Russell again led the Lions with eight kills while
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) added four. Foster had 17 assists. Russaw also led the team with five digs.Â
Janiyah Gillard (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) had the lone ace for the Lions.

Arlicia Ortiz led the Broncos with 15 kills while hitting .545 (15/3/22). Nakia McKinnie and Avery Shaw had 19 and 17 assists respectively. Nia Bell led FSU with eight digs. FSU libero Jessica Ware had three aces.

The Lions close out the roundup on Sunday with a match against Livingstone College. Tipoff will be around 1 p.m.
