Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Holy Family Defeats Lincoln 4-0

Holy Family University handed the Lincoln University Women's Soccer team their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lions 4-0 at Lions Stadium in a weather-shortened game.

A 45 minute lightning delay in the 68th minute was followed by a deluge of rain as play resumed before the officials called the game at the 70th minute. Lincoln falls to 1-1 with the loss while Holy Family improves to 2-0.

The Lions were playing well through the first 15 minutes of action, holding the Tigers to just two shots through the first 15:29.   The Tigers got on the board at the 16:01 mark on a goal by Brianna Rock.  HFU added a second goal at the 27:01 mark to go up 2-0 where the score remained until halftime.

On the offensive end, the Lions had opportunities but were unable to get a shot off against the Tiger defense in the first half, and were outshot 9-0.

The Tigers scored three minutes into the second half to boost their lead to 3-0 and tallied their final score in the 64th minute to make the final score 4-0.   The Tigers outshot the Lions 5-1 in the short second half with Samanta Sosa (Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras/Freedom (Harris-Stowe)) recording the only shot on the day for Lincoln.

Brianna Pudlo earned the win in goal for the Tigers while Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) took the loss for the Lions.

Lincoln returns to action on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 when they travel to Bloomfield, New jersey to face the Bears of Bloomfield College.
