Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lions Shut Out by Bears, 4-0

The Lincoln University women's soccer team suffered their second consecutive loss Tuesday night as they were defeated by Bloomfield College 4-0 at Foley Field in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

The Lions fall to 1-2 on the season while the Bears of Bloomfield improve to 1-1.

Bloomfield took the game to the Lions from the opening kick, recording eight shots (four on goal) over the first 15minutes of action before finally putting one past LU goalkeeper Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) at the 19:34 mark to take a 1-0 lead on a chip shot by Simone McEnough over  Rodriguez's head.

The Lions played better defense for the remainder of the half, limiting the Bears to just three shots.  The two teams also had to endure a lightning delay  with 11 minutes to go in the period.  For the Lions it was their second consecutive game with a lightning delay.

Offensively, Lincoln again struggled, faling to get a shot off in the first period  and managing just two in the second half of action.

The Bears made the score 2-0  in the 60th minute before adding two more goals in the final seven minutes to pull away with the 4-0 win.  Samanta Sosa (Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras/Freedom (Harris-Stowe)) and Kayla Butts (Lansdowne, Pa./Bonner-Prendergast) had the only two shots for the Devils with  Butts' shot the only one on goal.

Emira Sala got the win in goal for the Bears  while Rodriguez took the loss

The women's soccer team returns to action on Friday, September 8, 2017 when they host Hollins University at Lions Stadium under the lights.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
