Bats Silent as Marauders Sweep Doubleheader from Lions

Bats were silent as the Lincoln University women's softball team failed to get a hit on the afternoon as Millersville University pitchers Cassidy Pinchorski and Emma Bevard tossed perfect games as the Marauders swept the doubleheader 14-0 and 8-0 Wednesday afternoon in Millersville, Pennsylvania.

The Lions fall to 4-16 overall while Millersville improves to 17-14.  Both games lasted just five innings.

In the opener the Lions put just two balls in play against Pinchorski as she faced the minimum 15 batters over the five innings, striking out 13. Brittany Smith had the big bat for Millersville, notching three hits and driving in three runs.

Alexis Harrod (Kiribati, South Korea/Seoul American HS) took the loss for Lincoln, giving up all 14 runs (11 earned) while striking out one.

Harrod fared somewhat better in the second game, allowing just four runs over the first four innings before the Marauders tacked on four runs in their final at-bat in the fifth inning to end the game with the 8-0 win.  The freshman pitcher allowed nine hits and walked just one batter in 4.2 innings pitched.  Harrod  falls to 3-10 on the season.

Bevard meanwhile also faced just the minimum 15 batters to complete Millersville second perfect game of the afternoon.  She struck out just five LU batters while the Marauders got hits from seven different players, including a pinch-hit double from Ally Kerr in the bottom of the fifth inning that plated the final two runs of the game.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 8, 2017 when they travel and face Bowie State University in a CIAA North Division doubleheader.
