The Lincoln University men's basketball team lost their second consecutive game Monday night as Livingstone College recorded an 87-70 win over the Lions.
The loss drops Lincoln's record to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games. The Blue Bears improve to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Sean James (Newark, Del./Christiana (Iona)) and
Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian ) led the team with 13 points. Â
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) added 12 points and a game high nine rebounds.
Remel Belfield led four Blue Bears in double figures with 22 points. Roger Ray added 19 while Cameron Burhannon scored 17 points. Navar Elmore added ten points.
Trailing by seven at the half, The Lions came out flat in the second half, turning the ball over five times in the first three minutes and allowing the Blue Bears to open the period with 13 straight points to jump out to a 20-point lead at 47-27 Lincoln followed with a 7-2 spurt to cut the lead back down to 15 but the Blue Bears quickly pushed the lead back up to 20 and increased their lead to as many as 25 as the half wore on. Lincoln used a late 12-2 run to pull within 15 with just 2:21 left but that would be as close as they would come before Livingstone settled in for the 17-point win..
In the first half, neither team led by more than three points over the first seven minutes of action until the Blue Bears exploded with a 14-3 flourish to jump out to a ten point lead 24-14 with 8:59 left in the first half. The Lions cut the lead down to three on two occasions before the Blue Bears closed out the half with a 7-3 flourish to lead by seven at the break 34-27.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, December 30, 2017 when they travel to West Virginia to play Shepherd University.
