Four players reached double figure scoring for the Lincoln university women's basketball team as they extended their winning streak to four games, crushing Chestnut Hill College 88-58 Sunday afternoon at Manuel Rivero Hall.
The Lions improve to 5-3 overall.  The Griffins fall to 5-5. Chestnut Hill had previous beaten #11 USciences in their last game, handing the Devils their first loss of the season.
Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytech) led all scorers with 20 points (8-14 FG), including a perfect 2-2 from three point range. The senior forward also added seven rebounds.Â
Shahra Madison (Chesapeke, Va./Norfolk Collegiate School (Chesapeke College)) recorded her second consecutive double-double with 18 points (7-12 FG) and 12 rebounds.Â
Brianna Logan (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley (Siena)) recorded her first career double-double with 12 assists sand ten points while
McKenzie Spencer (Richmond, Va./Henrico) added a career-high 17 points.
Logan's 12 assists set a school record for most assists in a game during the school's NCAA Division II era and is the most in game since Channelle Harris recorded ten against Fayetteville State in January 2010.
Jaeda Wildgoose led the Griffins with 13 points while Cassie Sebold added 11. Mary Trossi led the ten with 10 rebounds.
The Lions never trailed in the contest and opened up a double digit lead early in the first minute of the second quarter before settling in for an eight point lead at the break before putting the game out of reach in the third quarter.
Pendleton opened the third quarter sinking her first three-point field goal of the season and after Wildgoose followed with a layup the Lions exploded with a 16-0 onslaught to push their lead to 25, 62-37 by the time the under-five media timeout was reached. Lincoln made seven of ten shots from the field during the first three minutes of the run and finished the run shooting 61.5% (8-13) during this decisive run that put the game out of reach.
Shannon Glenn's layup coming out of the timeout broke the scoring streak by the Lions before Pendleton connected on another three-pointer, her second of the game and doubling her career total. The Pendleton trey gave the Lions their largest lead of the quarter at 65-39. The Griffins closed the gap to 18 by periods end with an 11-3 spurt. Lincoln finished the quarter making 11 of 18 shots from the field (61.1%)
The Lions still led 72-52 when the team added a 14-2 flourish to produce their biggest lead of the game at 86-54 and finished the quarter outscoring the Griffins 20-8.
Lincoln committed a season-low ten turnovers while producing a season-high 24 assists and outscored the Griffins 27-7 in points off turnovers. The Lions also outscored the Griffins in the paint 52-32.  Lincoln had two quarters shooting 50% or better (first (52.4%) and the aforementioned third quarter and finished the game making 38-80 shots from the field (47.5%), including a 32 of 59 (54.2%) effort from within the arc. The Griffins shot just 31.1% (23-74) for the game and 4-27 (14.8%) from three point range. Chestnut Hill had a 48-47 rebounding edge but committed 19 turnovers.
The women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, December 14, 2017 as they begin conference play at Johnson C. Smith University. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
