Freshman forwards
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) and
Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) recorded their first career double-doubles Tuesday night as the Lincoln University men's basketball team overcame a double-digit first half deficit to defeat Clarion University 89-79 at Lincoln's Manuel Rivero Hall.

The Lions improve to 3-2 with the win, their second straight. Clarion falls to 2-5.Â

Williams and Camper were amongst the five Lincoln players who scored double figures on the night. Williams notched 12 points while grabbing 11 rebounds while Camper scored 11 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Camper also had four blocks on the evening.Â
Gevon Arrington (Chesterfield, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) led the Lions with 21 points with 12 of those coming via a solid 12-15 effort from the free throw line. Arrington also led the team with five assists.

Sean James (Newark, Del./Christiana (Iona)) and
Elijah Bush (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore (Essex County CC)) rounded out the double figure scorers for the Lions adding 15 and 12 points respectively. Bush also pulled down eight rebounds.

Kyheim Hall recorded a double-double for the Golden Eagles, leading the team with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Cameron Grumley added 18 points and six boards to join Hall in double figures.

The Lions again found themselves trailing by double digits early in the game only to rally, reclaim the lead and move on to win the contest. The Golden Eagles used an 11-0 uprising midway through the first half to open a 22-8 at the 11:02 mark. Lincoln countered with a 13-2 flourish to bring the lead back down to three points at 24-21 with 8:46 left in the half, capped off by a James' three-pointer. A traditional three-point play from Clarion's RJ Laugland pushed margin up to six before the Lions cut the deficit back to one with another James' 3-ball at the 4:42 mark.

The Clarion lead oscillated between one and six points over the next three minutes until a
Josh Page (Washington, D.C./Rock Creek Christian Academy) free throw tied the game at 39-39 with 1:11 left. Two free throws by James gave the Lions their first lead since the opening minute at 42-41 as the half came to a close.

Lincoln opened the second half with an 8-3 flourish to push their lead to six at 50-44 and later added a run of 16-7 run to boost their advantage to double digits 69-58 with 10:27 remaining. Â The Golden Eagles would come no closer than eight points the rest of the way as the Lions settled in for the ten-point win.

The Lions nearly doubled up the Golden Eagles at the free throw line, connecting on 27 of 40 shots (67.5%) while Clarion made just 14 of 27 (51.9%). Lincoln had the slightly better shooting percentage from the field making 28 of 64 shots (43.8%) to 39.7% (29-73) by the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles had a slight 50-47 rebounding edge while the Lions turned in the better assist/turnover ratio with 14 assists and 18 turnovers (CU- 8 assists/19 turnovers).

The Lions return to action on Thursday, November 30, 2017 when they host Cheyney University for their annual "Battle of the First". Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
