Dominican and Felician Sweep Lincoln Volleyball

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lincoln University women's volleyball team dropped pair of non-conference matches Saturday afternoon, losing in straight sets to Dominican College (3-0) and Felician University (3-0) at Job Gym in Rutherford, New Jersey.
 
The Lions fall 4-17 overall while Dominican earns their first win of the season and holds a 1-25 record.  Felician improves to 4-18.
 
The Lions opened the day against the Chargers from Dominican.  DC took the first two sets 25-21 and 25-20 and held off a late charge to complete the sweep with a 25-21 third set win. Aubury Coleman and Mariah Russell (St Louis Mo./Maplewood Richmond Heights) led the Lions with 11 and 10 kills respectively.  Alias Foster had 20 assists setting the Lincoln offense. Russell also led the team with five aces.  Tymera Crudup and Amaya Booze led Lincoln with 16 and 14 digs.  Booze also had two blocks.
 
Foster's 20 assists pushed her over the 400-assist mark for the season, becoming just the third Lions player in program's Division II history to record 400 or more assists in a season.
 
Dominican was led by Gabrielle Napoleon's ten kills and five aces.  Essence Boyd added three aces and led the team with 29 assists and three blocks.  Napoleon and Deanna Knopf had nine digs apiece to pace the Chargers on the defensive end.
 
The Lions took on host Felician University in their second match of the day, losing in straight sets, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-11.  Coleman led the team, recording 10 of the squads 17 total kills.  Foster had 12 assists.  Crudup led the team with 11 digs.  Coleman and Kaylarose Scott had three blocks apiece.
 
Paulina Calero led Felician with ten kills while Charlotte Greek had 28 assists and four aces.  Lauren Mack led the team with six aces and 12 digs.
 
Lincoln returns to action for their final home game of the season on Monday, October 30, 2017 when they host Virginia State University.  Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m.
