A second half comeback fell just short as the Lincoln University women's basketball team dropped their sixth straight game, falling 68-65 at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina on Monday.
The Lions record now stands at 3-11 overall and 1-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games. Shaw improves to 4-12 and 1-3 in league play with the win.

Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytech) was the catalyst of the comeback, connecting on six of nine shots from the field in the second half en route to a team-high 18 points.Â
Amanda Okodugha (Norrköping, Sweden/Young Harris College) added seven fourth quarter points to finish the game with 11.Â
She'cquan Bailey (Denton, Md/Baltimore City CC) had a team high nine rebounds and four assists to go along with eight points. Â
Monique Cheek (Teaneck, NJ/Harford Community College) added eight points and four assists
LaQuisha Taylor led the Lady Bears with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Bianca Maxwell added 13 rebounds and Imani Heggins had 18 points off the bench.
Shaw led by 12 at halftime and went up by 14 34-20 at the start of the third quarter. Okodugha started the scoring for the Lions with a layup and Bailey followed with a putback to cut the lead to ten. After a Taylor 3-ball put the Lady Bears back up by 13, The Lions, fueled by Pendleton went on a 13-4 uprising to cut the Shaw lead to four 41-37. Pendleton accounted for 10 of Lincoln's 13 points during the run. Shaw added five straight points to go back up by nine before the Lions closed out the quarter on a 7-2 run.
A 9-4 run by Shaw to open the fourth quarter put the Lady Bears back up by nine 57-48 with 7:16 left and the lead oscillated between six and eight points over the next three minutes when the Lions made their final push. Okodugha had the traditional three-point play 2:53 left to close the gap to four at 64-60 and following a Higgins turnover, Bailey sank a 3-ball to bring the Lions within one 64-63. Stephanie Custodio had a layup for Shaw and Okodugha countered, making the score 66-65 with just 1:35 remaining. The Lions made a defensive stop and had a chance to take the lead but could not convert. Shaw made two free throws in the final 25 seconds to seal the win.
For the game, the Lions shot 35.2% (25-71) from the field and 4-17 (23.5%) from three point range. Shaw shot 41.7% (25-60) from the field and was 7-22 (31.8%) from three point range. Both teams made 11 free throws. The Lady Bears dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Lions 54-34. Lincoln committed just 14 turnovers to Shaw's 25.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 when they play at St. Augustine's University. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
