Lincoln Volleyball Cruises Past Elizabeth City State 3-0

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Senior Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) had ten kills in a Lady Lions 3-0 victory over Elizabeth City State on Sunday, September 27th on the road.

Lincoln had a season-best .263 attack percentage against the Lady Vikings in a CIAA Northern Division matchup. The Lady Lions had their best outing of the season finishing with 29 team kills and committing only nine errors. Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) paced the offensive attack with a .368 attack percentage on ten kills. Seniors Soyini Hugget (Bear, DE/Delaware Tech CC) and Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) both had five kills while sophomore Mariah Russell (St. Louis, MO/Maplewood Richmond Heights HS) added four.

Despite Elizabeth City State tallying 11 kills to Lincoln's eight in the first set, ECSU was forced into eight errors by LU and lost 25-16. In the second set Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) dominated the action with six kills in a 25-12 victory for Lincoln. The Lady Lions continued their stellar play in the third set with a 25-18 win straight-set sweeping the Lady Vikings.

Defensively Soyini Hugget (Bear, DE/Delaware Tech CC)t had a team-high 14 digs. Mariah Russell (St. Louis, MO/Maplewood Richmond Heights HS) added eight, Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) had seven digs, and Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) added six digs. Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) finished with six digs also and garnered 18 assists. Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and Mariah Russell (St. Louis, MO/Maplewood Richmond Heights HS) both finished with four service aces.

Lincoln improves to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in CIAA play. The Lady Lions will continue their road trip on Monday, September 28th against Chowan University.
